McGee

Bobby McGee was born and raised in an area called the Arklamiss, which is a combination of three states Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Ironically, he was raised in a small town called McGehee, in the state of Arkansas.

McGee's theatrical background began when he became Arkansas' State Champion orator in high school. He knew at this point that he was tailored for the entertainment industry. After graduation, he attended The University of Southern California, where he studied under Nina Foch, John Houseman, Jacqui and Bill Landrum. His success at USC lead him to participate in the largest Theatrical Festival in the world, "The Edinburgh Fringe Festival" in Edinburgh, Scotland. After receiving his degree, he continued his studies with Ed Cambridge and Stella Adler.

Bobby's first professional job was "The Great American Hero" which was cast by Reuben Cannon; Reuben also utilized Bobby's talent in a feature film entitled "A Soldier's Story" which received numerous Academy Award Nominations.

During the filming of "A Soldier's Story," Bobby teamed up with Robert Townsend. McGee later worked on Townsend's monumental film "Hollywood Shuffle," where he coined the phrase "I ain't be got no weapon." Bobby also worked on all of Townsend's HBO Comedy Specials entitled, "Robert Townsend & His Partners In Crime."

After the HBO specials were completed, Bobby hopped in a plane to Sri Lanka to work on a film with Beau Bridges and Oscar winner Dr. Haing S. Ngor ("Killing Fields") entitled "The Iron Triangle."

Television work also includes guest spots on the "Parkers," "The Bernie Mac Show," "Steve Harvey," "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Sister Sister," "Malcolm In The Middle," "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper," "Martin" and "Married with Children."

McGee has developed a unique combination of comedy and drama in his style of acting, which has brought him several awards, including Outstanding Drama Award @ USC for three consecutive years and The Ira Aldridge Acting Competition Award.

Bobby was the lovable cousin in Robert Townsend's "The Five Heartbeats." He also played "Uzi," a member of the upper class gang called the "Golden Lords," in Townsend's "Meteorman."

When asked what he considers one of the highlights in his career, McGee sights his attendance at the "Cannes Film Festival" experiencing a movie in which he participated entitled "Under the Hula Moon" starring Stephen Baldwin, Emily Lloyd and Chris Penn.

Whether playing a Mack Daddy, a wacky sponging next door neighbor or a gang member, Bobby McGee's versatility stands out. In most recent years Bobby has been working with Robert Townsend Entertainment on the Producer’s Team. As an Associate Producer he worked on "In the Hive" a feature film starring Michael Clarke Duncan and His latest film with Townsend has him in the film and co-producing the film. The film is entitled "Playin’ For Love" directed by Robert Townsend and starring Salli Richardson. Bobby most recent project is entitled "Blind Bet" where again he is on the Producers Team. His growth in the entertainment industry has also allowed him to explore different avenues and experiment with different projects.
